How to – Safe Mode in Windows

Safe Mode is used to troubleshoot boot failure issues in windows operating systems. Primarily targeted at issues where a driver failure / corruption causes Windows to crash. In such cases safe mode can be used to remove the driver files or make other changes that will prevent the crash.

To enter into Safe Mode:

1. Reboot computer.
2. Tap (continuously) F8 once POST completes.
3. ‘Advanced Options’ menu will come up, select “Safe Mode” & press Enter.

NOTE : Depending on issue, “Safe Mode with Networking” & “Safe Mode with command prompt” can also be selected.
